Next week’s value is Creativity

“In all the work you are doing, work the best you can.  Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23

Dear Parents/Carers

It’s been an emotional week at St Mary’s as we said goodbye to our Year 6 pupils, their time at St. Mary’s ended with a beautiful and moving Leavers’ Service, led by Dr Rev. Greene, a class party with a vintage ice cream van, disco and the obligatory water pistol fight. Today we look forward to their final assembly and awards ceremony. We wish all of year 6 the very best in their new schools and look forward to hearing about their future successes.

On Friday, we will welcome pupils from Years 2 to 5 to spend a day with their teachers, to say farewell and have some sort of closure of this academic year.  We are very proud of all our pupils who have shown great resilience in these very strange circumstances.

Attached is an interesting and informative guide to assist parents with talking to children about racism.  This is in light of the Black Lives Matters agenda.  This movement is something we will be addressing as part of our curriculum next year.

Recent events have reminded us that teachers, parents and carers must play an integral role in ensuring children

have an accurate, informed understanding of white privilege, racial bias and racial hierarchies evident in

our society and the ways we can combat racism.

Please also find attached some resources that we hope you will find useful in supporting children with transition and returning to school supplied by CAMHs.

Following a communication review, we will be making some changes to the bulletin.  From September we will be issuing the bulletin, fortnightly (instead of weekly) and it will have a new and updated format that will be better suited to digital platforms, which we hope you will like.  We will review this at the end of the Autumn term.  The website will still continue to publish important dates and copy of the bulletin.

Have a wonderful weekend.
