Welcome to Year 1
We are all so happy to be back in school with our friends, it is lovely to see so many happy faces and enthusiastic children waiting at the school gates. We have been getting used to our classroom, our teachers and learning knew routines, which we are adapting to well.
We have had a smooth transition to Year 1 as we believe in a play-based approach to learning. We are building in time to consolidate and further develop core Early Years Foundation Stage principles before moving on to the Year 1 curriculum.
This has been a year of significant world events, disrupting and changing the ways of life of people across the globe. In order to support the children with the return to school we have been working with the whole school on a book called ‘Here We Are’: Notes for Living on Planet Earth by Oliver Jeffers. He dedicated the book to his baby son with a desire to make sense of the world for his son but it is also a gift to all children at this time, helping them to make sense of their world and their role in it.
We look forward to sharing some of our learning with you.
Our teachers are: Mrs Bennett and Mrs Lawrence
