Week 6 w/b 1st June
Year 2 Summer Term Week 6 w/b 1st June
Welcome back to Home Learning Year 2! We hope you all had a lovely half-term break and made the most of the beautiful sunshine.
For the time being, we are carrying on with the routine of posting the overview sheet and the supporting resources on this page so that you can access the work at your own pace. Of course, if you have any questions, please do get in touch and we will do our best to help.
Maths: We are continuing to use the White Rose resources, and this week we will be revising what we have learnt about ‘Multiplication and Division’.
There are video tutorial links available to support the learning for all of these lessons, which are accessible here: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ There will be a challenge posted on the White Rose website for Friday.
Please remember to use your login for ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ for additional times tables practice! If you have been working on times tables outside of those you have been set, get in touch and we can add them to your account. Your login can also be used to access the sister site ‘Numbots’ which helps you to consolidate fundamental number knowledge and practise addition and subtraction.
Literacy: This week’s Literacy activities are based around ‘The Magical Teaching Box’. There are also some creative activities within the booklet, such as sketching Zeus and making your own Magic Box. We are particularly keen to have a look at your writing this week, so when you have written your poem, please take a clear photograph of it and post it to Seesaw or via email so that we can give detailed feedback and advice about next steps.
Science: Our science topic for the next four weeks is Scientists and Inventors. Each week, we will look at one individual who did something awesome! Who was Elizabeth Garrett Anderson? Why is she an important person in the history of medicine? You will have the answers to these questions by the end of this week’s lesson.
RE: Our focus for the next few weeks is on the Jewish day of rest, called Shabbat. There are some lovely short videos showing a Jewish family marking Shabbat and fun activities to go with them.
Flat Teacher Adventure: Hopefully, you all received something in the post from us over the holiday period. Please do make sure you take us with you on your adventures and send photographs so we can see what we have been up to!
Finally, we just wanted to remind you that the school is now open for some children, and all teachers are picking up extra responsibilities during this time. Although we are still here to offer help and answer questions, we may not be able to get back to you as swiftly as we have in the past. Please do bear with us as we move forward into this next phase.
Have a great week!
