Week 5 w/b 18th May

Well done for all of your hard work last week Year 2!  We have enjoyed reading your stories about helpful elves, and loved seeing what hiding places your Lost Sheep have found themselves in! Please keep sending us examples of your work, as we love to see what you have been doing.

As before, this week’s activities are listed on the overview sheet, and the accompanying resources can all be found below. Of course, if you have any questions, please do get in touch and we will do our best to help.

Maths:  We are continuing to use the White Rose resources, and this week we will begin revising what we have learnt about ‘Multiplication and Division’.

There are video tutorial links available to support the learning for all of these lessons, which are accessible here: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/  There will be a challenge posted on the White Rose website for Friday.

Please remember to use your login for ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ for additional times tables practice!  If you have been working on times tables outside of those you have been set, get in touch and we can add them to your account.  Your login can also be used to access the sister site ‘Numbots’ which helps you to consolidate fundamental number knowledge and practise addition and subtraction.

Literacy: This week’s Literacy and Creative activities are based around The Tale of Peter Rabbit.  The eBook can be read on screen, and the activities downloaded separately.  A Literacy overview has been provided as a guide to the activities.

Science: How are your seeds and bulbs getting on? Please keep recording what you see in your table and observe any differences between the plants. If your plants are not growing as you predicted, have a think about why this could be. The cress experiment has been progressing, and Mrs Porter plans to post a Year 2 video early next week so that we can draw some conclusions about the effect of temperature on plants. This week, you have a plants quiz to complete to see how much you have learnt over the last few weeks – please try to do this on your own and let us know how you get on.

Video Challenge: Thank you everyone who has taken part in last week’s ‘Get Flossing with your Friends’ challenge! There is still time to get your video clips to us over the weekend as we would love to have as many of you as possible involved!

This week we’re setting a ‘Target Challenge’.  Choose an object, choose a target.  Send a clip of you throwing, kicking or heading your object at your target and celebrating getting it in or hitting it!

Have a great week!

Mrs Evans and Mrs Porter
