News 28th April 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome back to a busy and exciting summer term. Staff got the ball rolling on INSET day, completing training in a new phonics programme and Zones of Regulation training. More of which you will hear about in the future.

On Tuesday this week, we had a professional photographer in school to take photos for our new school website, the sun shone down on us and I am confident that photos will show case all that the school and village have to offer perspective families.

At the weekend, I was honoured to be asked to present the awards at the Chiddingfold Horticultural Society spring show. It was especially lovely to present two awards to one of our parents. Congratulations Mrs Chaplin!

Before the Easter holidays, the children were raising money for the British Red Cross Ukrainian Fund, this included a mufti day at the end of term. I am delighted to inform you that St Mary’s School raised £1,012. Thank you to all the children for their creative ideas and to you for your very generous contributions.
For summer term, our charitable work will be in aid of our link school in Malawi, which will include a Malawian day later in the summer term.

Jubilee preparations are under way in school and in the village. We have many plans in place for the next four weeks, finishing with a whole school celebration, to which you are all invited. Please see the flyer attached.

Two of our parents, Mrs Olsworth-Peters and Ms Gillingham are setting up and working with KS2 children and adults on performances for Chiddfest. Yesterday, they both talked to the pupils in assembly and pupils had the opportunity for a sneak preview of what to expect for the day. Both of these choirs are set to deliver extraordinary performances, please see flyers attached and sign up for this wonderful opportunity.

More information will follow about school events in relation to Jubilee, Chiddfest and the village fete. We are really looking forward to celebrating all of these wonderful events with you in true Chiddingfold style!

In the meantime, enjoy the bank holiday weekend!

Best wishes
Mrs Buckley
Headteacher

CHIDDFEST CHILDREN’S COMPANY
Do you love singing, dancing and acting? Then this is for you! You don’t need any previous experience – just a willingness to give it a go.

Students in KS2 are invited to join ‘Chiddfest Children’s Company’ formed especially for this event. You will be working with Vocal Director Lisa Olsworth-Peter and director Karen Gillingham to create a performance piece with highlights from Bizet’s Carmen and ‘Seasons of Love’ from RENT.

Please look at the dates and make sure that you can commit to them all as rehearsal time is short and it is important that you are at all rehearsals.
