Kew Gardens

On Thursday 26th February, Year 3 visited Kew Gardens to start their learning about plants.  They took part in a Plant Scientist workshop where they learnt about the different parts of a plant, how seeds are dispersed and had the opportunity to use a microscope and magnifying glasses to explore plants and flowers more closely.

We then moved in to the Palm House to carry out a scientific study of a tree which included making observational drawings of the leaves, bark, flowers and seeds.

We spent the rest of the day exploring plants from different environments in the Princess of Wales Conservatory and the Palm House, and one group even had a bird’s eye view of the gardens when we climbed the 118 steps to the Treetop Walkway!

Despite the rain, we had a great day, and were very enthusiastic about all we had seen!
