British Values

At St. Mary’s we know that we have a responsibility to prepare our children for life in modern Britain.  This means teaching them about rules and law, democracy, tolerance of different faiths and beliefs and respect the rights of the individual.

We teach these across all areas of our curriculum, though the main vehicle for these are our PSHE, Philosophy and RE subject lessons.

As a church school with Christian values at the heart of its ethos, children and staff are experienced at embracing differences and do so with respect.

How well a school promotes British Values is an aspect of Ofsted's inspection process.
