We believe that self-esteem and confidence are the best predictors of success and we aim to ensure that every child (aged 4-11) has an opportunity to reach their fullest potential (academic, non-academic and social) within a safe, friendly, secure and nurturing environment.
Whilst giving high priority to the basic, essential life skills of literacy and numeracy, we look for talent and value achievement in other areas of the curriculum too. We recognise that sporting, musical, creative and artistic talents are equally important and we look for as many opportunities as possible to develop our children's fullest potential in these areas.
Aside from the academic and creative curriculum, we place a great deal of emphasis on good, old-fashioned values. We make no apology for setting firm boundaries, encouraging good manners, tolerance, social awareness and consideration. Our rewards system is based around our school values of 'wisdom', 'hope', 'respect' and 'community'. We promote a good work ethic, perseverance, team-work, friendship and a sense of community.
Regardless of their level of academic ability, we have high expectations aim to ensure that every child has the opportunity to flourish. Rather than 'labelling' individual children, we offer personalised learning for all, to meet a diverse range of needs and age-related expectations. Through careful assessment and differentiation, we identify children who need a little extra help or focused support for their learning as well as looking out for the 'high-fliers' who need extension opportunities to ensure they gain in independence to become fulfilled and creative learners with a life-long love of learning.
Adults and children share in the responsibility for making our school a success. Everyone is accountable at some level and we are proud of our effective and hard-working team.
I would love to have the opportunity to tell you more about St Mary's and to show you what we have to offer for your child at our school.
We welcome visitors during school hours. Please call the school office to arrange a visit.
I look forward to meeting you.
