Please click on the link at the bottom of the page to read our letter about Green Day...
Green Day is an event that helps to make schools sustainable. We hope to inspire pupils and colleagues in our school to learn about climate change and how it relates to the buildings and spaces around them. Green Day is a fun way to learn serious lessons. It helps us explore the connections between sustainability and the places we live and learn, incorporating these themes into lessons and wholeschool activities. It acts as a springboard for long-term action which could transform our school and the community around it. Green Day is led by CABE, the government’s independent advisor on architecture, urban design and public space. For further information visit www.cabe.org.uk/greenday
SCHOOL COUNCIL AND THE ECO SCHOOLS AWARD
You may remember back in January the St Mary's School Council led the Eco-Schools Switch off Fortnight where we asked you to pledge to save energy, we wanted to let you know of some other exciting things that you can get involved with too.
The Pod is a website that the School Council regularly use to find out about different environmental issues, there are loads of games and activities and it is really fun. You can join too by clicking the link below and using the pupil invitation code for our school.
Your school URL is: http://www.jointhepod.org/St-Marys-CE-Primary-School12/default This homepage is unique to your school. It contains the latest details about your activity blogs, pod-o-meters and medals. Your pupil invitation code is: wikspd. This is just for pupils in our school. You can register with the site and access all the great resources.
We are working towards our Eco-Schools Green Flag and are currently collecting lots of evidence to support our application, but you can help us too, as all the activities on the Pod count towards a Bronze, Silver and Green Flag Award.
