Alice Holt Visit - June 2008
Lichfield Class visited Alice Holt Country Park on 11 June 2008.
What makes a forest?
After visiting Alice Holt to find out all about trees, Year 1 thought about what “ingredients” you would need to make a forest.
We wrote some list poems.
Thousands of seeds make a forest
Soil, rain air and sun make the trees grow
Worms wriggling around underground
Insects creeping along
Snakes slithering about
Foxes hunting for food
Tree stumps bobbing up
Squirrels collecting nuts
Squirrels making winter huts
The leaves and branches stretch up high
Deer and foxes make their dens
Adam
Rain watering the ground
Evergreen leaves swaying in the tree tops
Woodlice munching through a yummy piece of wood
Branches rattling on the tree
Ants strolling to a new home
Deer scratching trees with their big antlers
Max
Thousands of seed growing in the soil
The rain coming down for the plants
Then spiders scuttling around
Beetles going around happily
Rabbits eating the grass with their babies
Foxes in the forest looking for food
Harriet
The mice nibbling the seeds
Some seeds grow
Toads sleeping under logs
Squirrels saving the acorns
Snakes slithering with their zigzag tails
Rhianna
Thousands of tiny seeds hiding in the ground
A spider making a home on the tree
Frogs hiding under the rocks
The roots sucking the water
Woodlice walking on the ground
A fox making a home for her babies
Arthur
Soil feeding the seeds
The roots sticking out
The birds twittering in the trees
Flowers slowly growing up
Sun warming the branches
Fox making a cosy den
Squirrels hunting for nuts
Wood mice in their cosy den
Rabbits eating seeds
Woodpeckers breaking the bark as they tap
Deer scraping the wood
Emily
Thousands of tiny seeds
Water dropping on the seeds
Sunlight shining through the tree
Squirrels hiding their nuts
Deer ripping the bark
Rabbits safe and sound in their burrows
Worms wriggling away
Spiders scuttling around
