Reading Resources

Literacy Subject Leader - Miss Alison Howells

We know how difficult it can be deciding which reading books are suitable for your child's age and ability.  We have, therefore, signed up to a website to help you.  Click here to go straight to the Love Reading 4 Schools website.

Once you have created a parent account you can access lists of books which will be regularly edited by our teachers.  You can click on the book titles to find out more about the books content, and the books are available to buy directly from the website.  If you do purchase from the site, for every £100 spent, St Mary's School will receive £5.00 back in book tokens.  There is no obligation to buy from the site.

Reading Pro is accessed through the Scholastic Learning Zone, a link to which can be found on our school website.  Your child will have a personal login and will be able to edit their interests, generate and view their reading lists, take comprehension quizzes on books they have read, and track their progress.  Once your child has been tested at school, they will be given their login to bring home so you and your child can familiarise yourselves with the platform.

In order to get the most out of this program, we are keen to upload information about the books we currently have in our school library so that children’s reading lists can specify whether the books are available at school.  To do this, we need help to catalogue our library.  If you are able to spare any time to come in to school and input information about our library books, please contact the school office with available days/times and we will get back to you.  Your support with this is greatly appreciated!

World Book Day

Each year St Mary's School celebrates world book day.  This website has a lots of ideas to help your child get reading.

Aswell as these resources above  we also have some recommended reading lists for each school year.  Simply select the year group reading list you would like to download.
