Governors
The key role of the Governing Body at St Mary's Chiddingfold is to provide a strategic vision for the school and to support the leadership team of the school in the implementation of that vision.
Further to that the Governing Body:
- agree statutory and non statutory targets
- approve and monitor the school budget
- manage school admissions
- take responsibility for policy decisions
- provide support and advice to the leadership team
- act as a critical friend to the school.
The Governing Body consists of eight Foundation Governors appointed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and Diocese, three staff Governors, two parent Governors and one Local Authority Governor. The Diocese and PCC are encouraged to include parents in their appointees and currently three Foundation Governors are parents of children in the school.
The Governing Body meets formally four times a year and committees of the Governing Body covering Finance and Premises, Personnel, Curriculum and Pupil Welfare meet at least termly and more often as need arises. Governors are regular visitors in school and are keenly and actively involved in the school on a daily basis.
